Meet the Hanoverians - Book Concept (2025)

The Hanoverians were the royal family that proceeded the English throne after the Stuarts. This period of history is full of ridiculous family dramas including but not limited to: George I Imprisoning his own wife, Cousin Charles encouraging Scottish highlanders to invade and then escaping dressed as a woman, George III secretly marrying a Catholic woman (huge no no at the time), George IV becoming so ill he thought he could grow a beef tree by burying steak in the garden, and William IV getting arrested while he was in the navy. It’s also covers a lot of very important events in history like the start of the modern British government, The American Declaration of Independence, and The French Revolution.

Not to mention very ridiculous powdered wigs.

This project aimed to engage children (10+) in historical events that shaped the UK, and the royal family that has played a part in all of it. Focussing on the family, the personalities of each king, who they knew, who they liked, who they hated, and the world they lived in.
